The Hooligans standard by the numbers

We skip the fluffy promises and focus on what matters. Every pompadour is shaped to you, but here’s the standard you can expect each visit.

On Time

Your Booked Time, Respected

A pompadour needs proper scissor time, so we book it in properly. Book your time. We’ll do our best to keep you on schedule.

Precision Cuts

Designed To Grow Out Well

We shape the top in layers so it lifts and sweeps back without a fight. As it grows, the shape softens gradually instead of collapsing.

Average Google Review Rating

Our rating comes from blokes who keep coming back. We give a classic pompadour the same attention as the freshest fade on the books.

The Hooligans fix

End the Search for a Reliable Barber

Time to Do It Properly

We set aside enough time for the scissor work a pompadour needs. You're not squeezed in between two quick clipper jobs.

Skilled With All Hair

Thick, wavy, fine or coarse, our crew works with every texture. That includes Afro, Asian and European hair, so you won't hear 'we don't cut that'.

A Consistent Shape

We use the same structure each time, so your pompadour looks the same visit after visit. If you want to change the height, we'll adjust from there.

Sound familiar?

Sick of a Pompadour That Won't Hold?

A pompadour lives or dies on the cut underneath. Get the top wrong and no amount of product will save it.

Barber styling a client's textured crop
The Flat Front

You blow-dry it, add product and it still drops by midday. The front was never cut to lift, so the height has nothing to sit on.

The Bulky Sides

The top looks fine but the sides puff out and make your head look wide. A pompadour needs tight, tidy sides so the top stands out.

The Wrong Proportions

Too much length up front, too little at the crown, or a shape that doesn’t suit your face. It looks off and takes forever to style.

Styling Shouldn't Be a Daily Battle

Built properly

The Details That Make a Pompadour Work

A great pompadour comes down to getting the small things right. We balance the length from front to crown, keep the sides tidy and take out bulk where it weighs the top down. The result is a shape that’s easier to style and grows out well.

Your pompadour, your way

Build Your Perfect Pompadour Haircut

Every head of hair is different, so we tailor the shape to you. These are the main pompadour styles we build, dialled in for your hair type and routine.

The Classic Pompadour

Longer on top with plenty of height, swept up and back with a smooth finish. The sides are kept short and neat with scissors or a taper. It’s the traditional look done properly.

  • Full height up front
  • Smooth, swept-back finish
  • Neat, tidy sides
  • Medium to strong hold

The Short Pompadour

All the shape of a classic pompadour with less length to manage. It’s quicker to style in the morning and suits blokes who want a tidy, office-friendly look.

  • Less length on top
  • Quick to style
  • Office-friendly shape
  • Works with finer hair

Pompadour With Faded Sides

We pair the top with a skin fade or taper on the sides and back. The contrast makes the height stand out and gives it a modern edge.

  • Modern, high-contrast look
  • Skin fade or taper
  • Height really stands out
  • Regular side touch-ups
Our 4-step process

How We Build Your Pompadour Haircut

No guesswork and no rush. Here’s how we get your pompadour right, from the first chat to the final styling tips.

Map Your Style

We start with a proper chat about the look you want, your hair type and your morning routine. We'll look at your head shape and face to set the right height and length.

Shape the Sides

We cut the sides and back first, with scissors, a taper or a fade. Tight, tidy sides let the pompadour on top stand out.

Build the Top

This is where the real work happens. We cut the top in layers with precise scissor work, taking out bulk so the hair lifts and sweeps back easily.

Style & Know-How

We blow-dry and style it with the right product, then show you how to do it at home. You'll leave knowing how to get the same shape every morning.

Your Pompadour Questions, Answered

If your question isn’t here, give us a call on 0426 693 033 and we’ll help you out.

How long does a pompadour haircut take?

If you’re keeping scissors on the sides, book a Scissor Cut, which takes around 50 mins. If you want faded sides, book a Fade, which takes around 40 to 45 mins. Both give us time for a proper chat and a precise cut.

Both the Scissor Cut and the Fade start from $60. Pick the Scissor Cut for a classic scissor finish, or the Fade if you want skin or tapered sides. All pricing shows when you book online.

A pompadour is swept up and back over the head for a smooth, rounded shape. A quiff is brushed forward and then up, so it has more of a flick at the front. We can help you pick the one that suits your face and style.

Most regulars rebook every 3 to 4 weeks. That keeps the sides tidy and the proportions balanced as the top grows. If you’ve got faded sides, you might want to come in a bit sooner.

A medium to strong hold pomade is your best bet for a slick, classic finish. For a more textured, modern look, try a clay or styling powder. We’ll recommend the right product for your hair before you leave.

Pompadours are easiest with straight or wavy hair because it sweeps back naturally. Curly hair can work too, but it needs a slightly different approach. We’ll give you honest advice during your consult.
